The Santo Domingo Cloisters date from the 18th Century and were originally part of the Santo Domingo church and was converted to civil use after the Spanish confiscation in the 19th Century and was thereafter manged independently.
It is one of the gothic architectural treasures in Andalusia one of the main cultural spaces in Jerez.
The Cloisters origin dates from the Almohad fortification outside of the city walls that the Spanish King Alfonso X of Castile handed over to the Dominicans (Order of Preachers) in 1.264.
